DAY 1 (LD): WAGGA WAGGA TO SPIRIT OF TASMANIA – Wednesday, 18^th November 2026

Welcome to an exciting adventure discovering Tasmania with Priests Coaches. Once everyone is onboard, off we head to the North Geelong terminal to join our Spirit of Tasmania cruise across to “the other side”. We will stop along our journey to enjoy lunch before continuing. Arriving with plenty of time to load the coach onto the cargo deck, we board and find our cabins. The cabins are very comfortable, with twin bed accommodation and ensuite bathroom. The facilities on the vessel are extensive with lounges, bars, shops and viewing areas. Dinner is served in the Tasmanian Marketplace Kitchen before retiring for the evening.

Day 2 (BLD): DEVONPORT TO LAUNCESTON – Thursday, 19^th November 2026

On arrival in Devonport our coach is unloaded, and we head for breakfast at the nearby Argosy Motor Inn and from here we can commence our days touring. Leaving Devonport, we now head to Sheffield and take a look at all the Murals before our first stop at the Ashgrove Cheeses Dairy Door. The new visitor centre recently re-opened and here we can see how cheese is made, watch the cheesemakers in action, or learn about Ashgrove’s unique pasture to plate philosophy in the interpretation centre. Next, visit Melita Honey Farm for some delicious tastings of the produce. Behind the safety of the glass, view how thousands of bees produce honey. From here we head to nearby Deloraine, where we visit Yarns: Artwork in Silk. Then we travel on to Launceston and arrive at Country Club Tasmania for a lovely buffet lunch. This afternoon we join Tamar River Cruises aboard the Lady Launceston and explore the Old Launceston Seaport before cruising to Kings Wharf viewing historic vessels and Launceston’s delightful riverfront precinct. The highlight of the experience is then cruising into the spectacular Cataract Gorge as we engage Lady Launceston’s unique and silent electric drive. View the sheer cliffs and cascades from our seats on this 1890’s style vessel. We’ll enjoy the skippers captivating commentary on the history of this fascinating area. Our day concludes as we check into our Launceston hotel for the next 2-night stay.

Day 3 (BLD): TAMAR VALLEY – Friday, 20^th November 2026

This morning we explore Cataract Gorge, the magnificent oasis in the city, from land. After a pleasant stroll exploring the landscaped gardens, we head to the majestic Tamar Valley. We begin at Beaconsfield where we’ll visit the Gold and Heritage Museum, a place where you can lose yourself within its history. Play with treasures from the past and uncover a different story around every corner. At Beauty Point, enjoy lunch at Seahorse World before gaining unique access into the world of the mysterious seahorse and watch the shy Tasmanian platypus’ going about their daily business hunting for mealworms. This afternoon, head back to Launceston for dinner.

Day 4 (BLD): LAUNCESTON TO ST HELENS – Saturday, 21^st November 2026

Today is a day of delightful scenery as we drive through beautiful, forested countryside towards Tasmania’s East Coast. Our first stop is the world’s largest privately-owned lavender farm, Bridestowe Estate Lavender Farm. With our guide leading the way, we see the farm in action on a tour of the flower shed and distillery. Experience a tasting with hints of lavender, before having morning tea and time to browse their extensive gift shop. We then continue through the pristine landscape to Legerwood to see some incredible tree carvings. Nine trees were planted to honour soldiers killed in World War I however in 2001 a report on the condition of the trees showed that they were no longer safe. The community was devastated that their memorials would be lost so it was suggested that the stumps be carved into a likeness of each soldier the trees represented. Eddie Freeman, a chainsaw carver from Ross, was employed to sculpt the masterpieces. Lunch today is at the Pub in the Paddock before we reach St Helens for our overnight accommodation.

Day 5 (BD): ST HELENS TO HOBART – Sunday, 22^nd November 2026

This morning’s touring takes us to the tranquil village of Ross. Discover Tasmania’s colonial history, amongst buildings erected in Australia’s earliest years. On arrival, a local tour guide will step aboard the coach and take us for a guided tour of the town, with time afterwards to buy some lunch. We’ll have a brief look through the Tasmanian Wool Centre, then depart south to Richmond, where the streets are paved with history. We stop to capture the oldest bridge in Australia, the convict-built Richmond Bridge, before we continue our travels into Hobart.

Day 6 (BLD): HOBART – Monday, 23^rd November 2026

Today we head to the Tasman Peninsula and take a drive through “Doo Town” before seeing some natural attractions such as the Tasman Arch and Devils Kitchen. A little further along is the Port Arthur Historic Site. The penal settlement has a special place of vivid history, cultural heritage and stories so compelling; you’ll want to hear them again and again. It’s a place where up to 12,000 prisoners were kept in an atmosphere of hopelessness and misery. Even though the Tasman Peninsula is spectacular, you can imagine the conditions, especially on a cold winter’s day, endured by the prisoners 150 years ago. We take a fascinating journey, retracting the life of convicts in the Visitor Centre, before a walking tour through the settlement and a harbour cruise. Leaving the site, we make our way back to Hobart where we can freshen up ready for dinner at the hotel.

Day 7 (BLD): HOBART TO QUEENSTOWN – Tuesday, 24^th November 2026

We say farewell to our hosts early this morning and begin our journey to the West Coast. This area is part of the huge South West National Park, which, combined with the Franklin-Gordon Wild Rivers National Park, makes up almost a full, one third of the land mass of Tasmania. Of course, much of this area is now World Heritage Listed. We stop at the beautiful Russell Falls in the Mt Field National Park for our morning tea at the Waterfalls Café – and a great photo opportunity. We then continue to Derwent Bridge (the geographical centre of Tasmania) where we stop for lunch at the Wilderness Hotel. Not too far away we visit the Wall in the Wilderness. The “wall” is a work in progress which will take several more years to complete. The panels, when complete, will measure 100 meters in length. In the reception area, there are many three-dimensional sculptures to view. This afternoon, we drive through the pristine wilderness of the Franklin-Gordon Wild Rivers National Park through some of the state’s most spectacular lakes and mountain areas before the steep drive into Queenstown, a town which was established because of the discovery of gold and other minerals at Mount Lyell last century. Queenstown is surrounded by mountains, which were once covered in vegetation, but which are now strangely bare and stained purple, grey and pink by from sulphur fumes from mining processes. Bushfires and logging, combined with heavy rain which washed the soil away, have stripped many of the hills of vegetation and created Queenstown’s famous “moonscape”. We check into our accommodation and unwind prior to dinner.

Day 8 (BLD): GORDON RIVER – Wednesday, 25^th November 2026

Cruising down the iconic Gordon River is a must do when visiting Tasmania. Our cruise will bring the river and its rich history to life for an unforgettable experience. Cruising the scenic waterways, we’ll listen to intriguing stories of the region, passage through Hells Gates and step ashore Sarah Island to see some of Australia’s oldest convict ruins. We quietly cruise on the Gordon River which gives us a chance to see the famous reflections of the forest against the dark, mysterious waters. The Huon Pine, which can be found in this area, is commonly known to live for 2000 years. The age of an ancient tree recently “discovered” was put at 10,000 years and if verified, will be recognised as the oldest on earth. We have the opportunity at Heritage Walk to see these and other trees of the dense forest up close. We return to Queenstown to relax before dinner.

Day 9 (BLD): QUEENSTOWN TO SMITHTON – Thursday, 26^th November 2026

Today, we leave Queenstown and travel north through the mineral rich mountains, crossing the Vale of Belvoir and alpine cattle country to reach the jagged contours of Cradle Mountain National Park. Enjoy invigorating mountain air as we explore visiting such sights at Waldheim and Dove Lake. Be transfixed by this beautiful glacial lake with remnants of the last ice age etched in the surrounding rocks. Guided through a cool temperate rainforest we’ll see native trees and hopefully, some wildlife. Enjoy a light lunch at the nearby Cradle Mountain Hotel before heading to the sweet little coastal town of Smithton.

Day 10 (BD): SMITHTON TO BURNIE – Friday, 27^th November 2026

This morning we head to Stanley and the Northwestern coastline of Tasmania. Whilst here, we visit the Highfield Historic Site for a self-guided tour of the mansion which many regard as the birthplace of European settlement in the North West of Tasmania. Built from 1832 to 1835 as a residence for the chief agent of the Van Diemens Land Company, Edward Curr, it represents an important part of Tasmanian historic heritage. With outstanding views of Stanley and The Nut, it is hard to believe this area was once a convict enclave, but the proof is all around us in the convict barracks, cottages, chapel, pigsties and barns. Before leaving town, we have some free time to take a ride on the chairlift to the Summit of The Nut (optional and at own cost). Next, we head to Wynyard for some free time to purchase lunch, before arriving in Burnie, stopping at the Burnie Regional Museum to see the Federation Street exhibit and finally arriving at our hotel for the last night on the Apple Isle.

Day 11 (BLD): BURNIE TO SPIRIT OF TASMANIA – Saturday, 28^th November 2026

We have a relaxed start to the day before visiting Emu Valley Rhododendron Garden. Wander the commons, immersing ourselves in this internationally recognised garden, classified as a plant museum. The garden should look particularly beautiful at this time of year, so we take our time wandering through. Our lunch venue today is just outside Devonport at the House of Anvers Chocolate Factory. A delicious lunch is planned in this lovely setting, with a chance to look through the retail store. Next, we visit The Australian Axeman’s Hall of Fame, which is a national museum showcasing Australia’s wood-chopping sporting champions – very unique! Tonight we board the Spirit of Tasmania for our overnight crossing back to Geelong.

Day 12 (B): GEELONG TO WAGGA WAGGA – Sunday, 29^th November 2026

Arriving in Geelong this morning we re-load the coach one last time. Before we begin our journey back to Wagga Wagga we head for breakfast nearby at the Rydges Hotel. Heading for home, we arrive with many wonderful experiences travelling with friends in Tasmania.
